What to do in Chipping Campden, our guide for adults

Are you planning a trip to the Cotswolds and wondering what to do in Chipping Campden?

It is a beautiful town with a rich history so I have pulled together a few ideas based on recommendations from my guests. I often ask them to share anywhere special that they have visited during their time with us and then pass on these recommendations.

Chipping Campden is in walking distance of our glamping site and we totally recommend spending time in this beautiful historic town. It is about a 20 minute walk, on level ground apart from the shortcut through our field.

It offers a Co-op, One Stop and Fillet and Bone food store plus some lovely delicatessens, independent gift shops, a clothes and a charity shop so you won’t be stuck for what to do in Chipping Campden, whether you are coming with friends, partner or family.

Museum and Galleries

What to do in Chipping Campden: history, arts and culture

If you like a bit of history, arts and culture, there are plenty of options in our list of what to do in Chipping Campden.

We recommend visiting Court Barn Museum of Craft & Design, which is near St James’ Church. It is a great place to learn about the arts and crafts movement which shaped the town.

Step back in time with a trip to the Guild of Handicrafts in Sheep Street. Meet the silversmiths who still work in the workshop designing and making bespoke silver and gold items and jewellery.

Just down stairs is the Gallery at the Guild showing the work of local artists from photographers, jewellery makers, furniture makers and more. The artists themselves man the desk so you can often chat to the makers to learn more about their work.

Further galleries can be found along the town high street.

Eating Out in Chipping Campden

What to do in Chipping Campden: food and drink

Choose from one of the lovely establishments in the town – we have many!

Get an early breakfast at Victors on the high street, or grab a coffee and toasted sandwich at the lovely motorbike cafe Koti on the outskirts of town.

Or, enjoy coffee and cake, a hearty bowl of soup and savoury scone at one of the tearooms.

For dinner maybe mediterranean, home-cooked pies or award winning curries – Campden has many places to choose from.

There are 2 takeaways too – Chinese/FishnChips and Indian. Sadly these don’t deliver but we can recommend one that does.

We always recommend booking ahead – especially if there are a number of you, and if it is for Sunday lunch!

Visit Campden's Vineyard

What to do in Chipping Campden: book a Vineyard Tour

Little Oak Vineyard just on the outskirts of Chipping Campden has been a really popular place to visit.

You can book a tour of the site and taste the different wines and brandy that they produce.

Owners Gemma and Steve will guide you through the different wines and you can order a delicious locally sourced platter for lunch to accompany the tasting.

It isn’t an easy walk to the vineyard so maybe nominate a driver or book a taxi well ahead of time.
